Kayla has volunteered with Special Olympics since 2013 and has coached a number of sports, including swimming, bowling, basketball, floor hockey and soccer. She is also a member of the Games Management Team for Special Olympics Northern California and helps with logistics and support at many events. Kayla says that being a coach and watching her athletes improve and have fun has been life changing for her. “It brings me so much joy to watch individuals become better athletes, develop new friendships and learn new sports!” Kayla graduated from San Jose State University with a bachelor's degree in Recreation and as a D1 swimmer; graduated from Cal State East Bay with a master's degree in Recreation and Tourism. She is a recipient of the 49er's Community Quarterback Award and enjoys being a new dog mom.
