SONC SCHOOLS @ HOME Resources

Special Olympics Northern California (SONC) is excited to offer a new Unified Champion Schools® teacher’s resources designed for remote learning and play. The variety of at-home resources below can help complement virtual lessons and keep students remaining healthy and fit while typical activities are suspended.

 

FITNESS BASED ACTIVITIES

School of Strength: School of Strength is an interactive online platform that encourages athletes to participate in a fun and engaging training program that they can do in the comfort of their own homes.

Anytime Fitness Facebook Page: Our partners at Anytime Fitness have launched a Weekly Wednesday Workout that is designed to include everyone! These workouts are LIVE each Wednesday at 1 p.m. ET.

Virtual Workout Training Program (Special Olympics Colorado): A virtual training program that includes a workout calendar, sports drills, and workout videos for everyday of the month.

"Commit to Fit" Workout Videos (Special Olympics Pennsylvania): Various workout videos that can be done from home.

Gopher's Top 7 At Home Activity Videos: At-home videos from PE teachers, parents, athletes, and others! Check out the top 7 activities students can do while being at home.

3-2-1 Fitness (Special Olympics Hawaii): 3 strength exercises, 2 flexibility exercises, 1 balance/stability exercise

CATCH Health at Home Program: A free program. Can be accessed through an online portal or Google Classroom that contains a variety of lessons on health, nutrition, mindfulness, and more.

Workout with the Warriors: Brush up on your basketball skills with 30-minute Instagram workouts facilitated by Warriors Basketball Academy coaches every Tuesday & Thursday at 1 p.m. Workouts will be streamed on the Instagram handle @gswacademy and all content will be posted on the Warriors Basketball Academy YouTube channel.

 

YOUNG ATHLETES – SKILLS AND DRILLS

Young Athletes At Home: Comprehensive Young Athletes guide that involves flash cards, movement videos, and an at home toolkit.

Family Flash Cards: Fun and engaging flashcards featuring each of the individual activities and at home equipment modifications for families to use at home to run Young Athletes.

Young Athletes Videos: Videos demonstrating the individual Young Athletes activities.

Healthy Play at Home: Poster for families to track the various healthy behaviors they do at home.

Young Athletes @ Home Video Lesson: Young Athletes can stay active with help from video lessons lead by Special Olympics coaches.

 

SPORT SPECIFIC RESOURCES

SONC Sports Drill Books: This page includes drill books for soccer, basketball, and track and field. Each drill book includes basic sports drills, sports rules, and a glossary of sports specific language

SONC Track & Field Resources: Contains a comprehensive list of links to resources and videos for Track & Field specific training activities. 

Track & Field Training Drills: Track and Field training drills from Special Olympics Colorado.

Athletics Home Training Guide: Goal setting, training logs, and sample training drills, taken from a track and field training guide by Special Olympics Maine.

Next Generation Webinar Series: As a thought leadership partner of Special Olympics Unified Champion Schools, NextGen is hosting a webinar series to help energize the next generation of leaders! 

Generation Unified Website: Learn about ways you can get involved and be a part of the Unified Generation through Special Olympics North America!
