SONC Wins with Corporate Engagement in 2019

Every day, Special Olympics is building an inclusive world -- one that celebrates ALL abilities. This happens in sports, schools and in the workplace. Thanks to the support from businesses ranging from local, family-owned, to international companies, we are ending 2019 on a positive note - ensuring our life-changing programs are offered free-of-cost to individuals with intellectual disabilities (ID) throughout Northern California.

The partners we engaged with this year brought together executives, staff and our athletes for some unique and impactful activations. Some of our best memories from 2019 include:

  • VMWorld MiniGolf Activation with Cohesity:  featuring a co-branded, custom mini-golf activation on the show floor to help advance our mission, feature our athletes’ skills and solicit donations to support our programs.

  • Kicking off 2019 at BoxWorks as the featured charity: We inspired Boxers (Box employees) with our message of inclusion by integrating our athletes, our programs and our people into breakout sessions.

  • Talking Inclusion at Pinterest’s KnitCon: We helped spread the message of inclusion at a fireside chat with Candice Morgan, Head of Diversity and Inclusion for Pinterest; SONC Global Messenger Danielle Libel; and SONC Board member/Coach/Parent Eric Wilfrid.

  • Playing Unified at the Salesforce Executive Summit: We partnered with Special Olympics Southern California to break down the barriers and stigmas surrounding people with ID by pairing Special Olympics athletes with Salesforce executives to compete together in sports.

Through the power of sports, our athletes discover new strengths and abilities, skills and success. They also inspire people in their communities and elsewhere to open their hearts to a wider world of human talents and potential.
