The mission of the Northern California Law Enforcement Torch Run® (LETR), in partnership with our communities, is to support Special Olympics Northern California through fundraising and public awareness, which in turn enhances the quality of life of our athletes. LETR is a year round fundraising campaign with a wide variety of fundraising events taking place throughout the year, culminating at the Special Olympics Northern California Summer Games in June.
Special Olympics Northern California is honored to have over 3,500 law enforcement members who are dedicated to fundraising and promoting Special Olympics. Our LETR are champions for acceptance and inclusion for people with intellectual disabilities, starting first with their own communities. Through their involvement in the Torch Run, Law Enforcement personnel form lasting friendships with our athletes that last a lifetime. The Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Northern California has raised an amazing $18 million since the inception of the program in 1996.
