2010 Special Olympics Northern California Summer Games
Join the fun and be a part of the 2010 Special Olympics Northern California Summer Games on June 25-27. This year more than 1,000 athletes and coaches will convene at UC-Davis to experience the thrill of a lifetime and compete for the gold in state-of-the-art collegiate athletic facilities. Opening ceremonies at Aggie Stadium on Friday night will kick off the start of the weekend competitions.

What is the “Summer Games”?
Summer Games is the largest Special Olympics sporting competition in Northern California showcasing four sports offered during the spring season. (March-May)
Who competes in the Summer Games?
More than 700 Special Olympics athletes will be participating in the four sports featured at Summer Games in 2010. This is championship-level play for aquatics, bocce, tennis and track & field.
How do athletes qualify?
To qualify for the Summer Games, athletes train for 6-8 weeks in their sport and must participate one of the regional competitions held throughout Northern California in April and May. Each area is given an allotment for Summer Games based on the number of athletes they have in training.
Can the public attend?
Absolutely! We encourage community groups and organizations, businesses, individuals and families to come to the Opening Ceremonies on Friday night or stop by to watch the competition Saturday and Sunday.
