Abilities United (formerly C.A.R.)
is an organization for people with developmental (Down Syndrome, mental retardation, autism, and cerebral palsy) and other disabilities, who live in the Bay Area. Abilities United offers services to infants, children, and adults with developmental disabilities and their families.

The Fresno Area Down Syndrome Society

The Council for Exceptional Children (CEC)

The Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) is the largest international professional organization dedicated to improving educational outcomes for individuals with exceptionalities, students with disabilities, and/or the gifted. CEC advocates for appropriate governmental policies, sets professional standards, provides continual professional development, advocates for newly and historically underserved individuals with exceptionalities, and helps professionals obtain conditions and resources necessary for effective professional practice.

National Dissemination Center for Children with Disabilities (NICHCY)

NICHCY serves the nation as a central source of information on, disabilities in infants, toddlers, children, and youth; IDEA, which is the law authorizing special education; No Child Left Behind (as it relates to children with disabilities), and research-based information on effective educational practices.

Matrix Parent network and Resource Center

Matrix is a parent-run information and resource center helping families in Marin, Napa, Solano and Sonoma counties, helping parents gain life-long skills and knowledge to help their children live, learn and participate fully in their communities. Matrix maintains a strong commitment to underserved populations. Bilingual and bicultural staff are available in all four counties to serve Latino families .

Best Buddies
Best Buddies is a non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the lives of people with intellectual disabilities by providing opportunities for one-to-one friendships and integrated employment. Founded in 1989 by Anthony Shriver, Best Buddies has grown from one chapter on one college campus to a vibrant, international organization involving participants annually on more than 750 middle school, high school and college campuses in the United States, Canada, Cuba, Egypt, Greece, Ireland, and Sweden. Parents Helping Parents
PHP is a 30-year-old nonprofit, family resource center that benefits children with special needs. This includes children of all ages (birth through life) and all backgrounds who have a need for special services due to any special need, including but not limited to illness, cancer, accidents, birth defects, neurological conditions, premature birth, learning or physical disabilities, mental health issues, and attention deficit (hyperactivity) disorder to name a few.
