1999
was the first year SONC offered both long distance running and
race walking. The runners have their choice of 3K, 5K and/or 10K.
Racewalkers walk either 1500 or 3000 meters. All of this takes
place on the varied terrain (grass, pavement, dirt, flat, hills,
etc.) of a cross country course. Gibson Ranch is the current venue
for the Fall Classic's Long Distance Running/Walking competition.
There is also Unified competition for the 5K and 10K.
