June 8-10, 2007 Berkeley
Nearly 1000 athletes from throughout Northern California will
come together for an exciting weekend of competition. Athletes
will compete in (5) different sports: Track & Field, Aquatics,
Bocce, Tennis, and Volleyball. The beautiful campus of UC Berkeley
will once again be the site of the Competition.
At Summer Games the athletes will experience a wonderful Opening
Ceremonies on Friday evening with performances by American Idol's Katharine
McPhee and World Renowned Performance Artist David Garibaldi, culminating
with the lighting of the Special Olympics torch signaling the
beginning of the weekend competition. Over
the course of the weekend, athletes will experience an
exciting opportunity to compete against their peers, Olympic village, Healthy
athletes and a victory dance on Saturday night. The athletes
competing at Summer Games have earned their spot by competing at one of many
Regional Qualifiers which were held earlier in the season and by participating
in a rigorous training season prior to competing.
