Golf and softball in full swing


The Summer Games may have come and gone, but it's not too late to pick up a sport this season! Golf and softball have just started up if you are interested in training, coaching or just getting out and meeting new people.

Golf athletes will be fine-tuning their technique in preparation for regional golf tournaments in Sacramento and San Jose in hopes of qualifying for the Golf Championships at Boundary Oak Golf Club in Walnut Creek on Aug. 18.

This is the eighth year Special Olympics Northern California is holding a Golf Championship with more than 200 athletes competing in this year’s event. Athletes will be participating in three levels of play and Individual Skills contest.

Softball athletes are busy practicing for regional tournaments in Sacramento and Concord in hopes of making to the team championships at Twin Creeks Softball Complex in Sunnyvale on Sept. 6. More than 500 athletes are expected to compete in an exciting day of softball.
