Not only does Safeway employ many of our athletes, they understand the importance of Special Olympics and the difference it makes in the lives of individuals with intellectual disabilities.

Long time Special Olympics athletes, Tim Collie and Sinclair Darr returned from the 2016 Special Olympics Summer Games victorious.  Tim participated in bocce and brought home a 5th place ribbon and Sinclair brought home the gold in the 50 meter freestyle swim.  But now back at home, with awards tucked away, it is back to work they go at Swirlz.

The weekend of June 24, 2016 over 1,000 athletes and volunteer coaches descended on the U.C. Davis campus to compete in the 2016 Special Olympics Northern California Summer Games.  After weeks of training, followed by participation at a Regional competition, athletes competed in aquatics, bocce, tennis or track & field.

The 7th Annual Bike the Bridges and Brew Fest is happening Sunday, June12th in Martinez at Waterfront Park.  Bike the Bridges and Brew Fest continues to grow year after year, thanks to the dedication of our local law enforcement officers. In an effort to make this the best year yet we have new routes, great local craft breweries, unlimited pour wristband and two live bands.
