On July 1, 2006, 3,500 athletes from
all over the United States traveled to Ames Iowa for the
first Special Olympics USA Summer Games. Special Olympics
Northern California brought 62 athletes and approximately
20 coaches.

What an incredible journey it has been. After a kick off party and Irish send
off at the Oakland Airport, our athletes boarded a plane for Belfast Ireland.
